Queen Anne’s Lace Light Pink

Ammi majus, Ammi visnaga and Daucus carota are sold in the cut flower world as “Queen Anne’s Lace”. This light and delicate-looking filler is formed of a cluster of tiny wispy white flowers giving the umbel a lacy appearance. Often used for wedding work, it is spectacular when used in mixed bouquets. Green Mist is hardy variety with thick and strong stems. It belongs to the same family as dill, celery, parsley and fennel and has a distinctive aroma. Chocolate Queen Ann’s Lace is the newer addition and comes in 3 colors: Chocolate (Burgundy), Pink and White.

Limonium Shooting Star

These feathery and colorful branches are essential for bouquets, corsages and other flower arrangements. They usually come in shades of lavender and purple, but breeders have also developed varieties in other hues, including white, pink, and yellow. What we may call the flowers of limonium species are really colorful, papery calyxes which surround the true flowers. The calyxes keep their vibrant color, making Limonium varieties some of the favorite flowers for dried arrangements.

Yarrow White (Cottage)

Yarrow (Achillea) is a wonderful filler flower belonging to the Aster family. Yarrow has clusters of tiny flowers that grow on tall stems with silver-green and aromatic fern-like foliage. There are several species cultivated as cut flowers which come in an array of colors depending on the species; golden yellow and white being the most common ones. They can be painted and make excellent dried flowers. Yellow yarrow (A. filipendulina) is also known as “hard top” or “flat top” yarrow. Cottage yarrow (A. millefolium) comes in white, pink, red lavender, creamy yellow and peach colors. There are also many hybrid varieties.

Pennycress Mini Coins

Pennycress (Thlaspi arvense) is similar to Lepidium in being a green filler with decorative seed pods. Pennycress “Mini Coins” variety has large flat seed pods (about the size of a pea) that could resemble small coins, while Lepidium’s seed pods are tiny (about the size of a sesame seed) and much more abundant. Pennycress is a versatile filler that doubles as a “green”. Its frilly branches add texture and movement to arrangements and bouquets. It is perfect to add an elegant and natural touch to boutonnieres, corsages and wedding bouquets.

Lepidium Green Dragon

Lepidium is a unique decorative filler known by many other names such as Thlaspi, Greenbell, Green Coin, Pennycress and Peppergrass. Its delicate green branches are covered in tiny seedpods, giving it a frilly, whimsical country garden look. It has three uses in one; it can be used as a filler, as an accent flower or as green foliage. It adds texture, volume and a fresh touch of green to any floral arrangement, flower bouquet or boutonniere. It can also be dried and can be painted. Lepidium Green Dragon won a red ribbon at SAF’s 2019 Outstanding Varieties Competition.
